Scientific Objectives

We are currently only accepting proposals from the United States.
The following areas of research are currently being considered:

  • Quality Improvement in OB/Women’s Health
    • Partner with Women’s Health Practices to implement institutional screening/diagnosis/treatment algorithm for Postpartum Depression (PPD).
    • Elements can include integration of algorithm into EHR or clinical workflows and provider training to educate on the application of this algorithm in practice and build OBGYN confidence in identifying and managing PPD.
  • Effectiveness of integrating mental health services into OB/Women’s Health
    • Partner with Women’s Health Practices who have a collaborative care model or some type of integrated model.
    • Through quantitative (claims or EMR) or qualitative methods (surveys, interviews), demonstrate that integrating mental health services have improved clinical, humanistic and cost outcomes for the practice.
  • Unmet needs with current ADT treatment
    • Demonstrate unmet needs in time to treatment and current treatment of ADT, such as non-response resulting in frequent and multiple treatment changes.
    • Interest would be in demographic and clinically diverse patient populations.
  • PPD Exacerbation
    • Demonstrate that patients presenting with mild or moderate PPD require immediate intervention, and that even mild/moderate symptoms can progress quickly to severe PPD if left untreated or with a watch and wait approach
  • Application of risk-prediction model in PPD
    • Based on the patient’s sociodemographic and clinical characteristics, predict their risk of PPD to improve identification and diagnosis, especially in patients with no prior history of mental health disorder.
    • The study should also touch on implementation of this model in clinical practice
  • Patient-Provider Conversations – AI Study
    • To assess provider and patient lexicon by using AI to listen to provider-patient conversations about symptoms, diagnosis and treatment in real time.
    • Utilize AI to summarize conversations and assess differences in lexicon used by provider and patient, via comparison of AI transcripts to provider notes.
    • The study should highlight diverse symptom presentation of PPD across various patient groups, how to have the right conversations to identify PPD early in the 3rd/4th trimester, and importance of treating vs not treating PPD urgently.

Research support is awarded on a highly competitive basis, and submission of research proposals in these areas of interest does not guarantee support will be awarded.

We continuously strive to improve our submission process and provide necessary guidance to investigators.
